What is the Hoka Hey Challenge?

The “Hoka Hey Motorcycle Challenge” is intended "to provide participants with an opportunity to test their fortitude and determination. By facing and overcoming obstacles along the way, participants are encouraged to journey into a deep and critical examination of their own motives, actions and beliefs and then to translate newfound strength and confidence into a willingness to act on behalf of others. Through the Hoka Hey Motorcycle Challenge™, the Medicine Show LLC endeavors to:

  • Enrich - to cultivate a philosophy of respect, honor, integrity and compassion
  • Empower – to promote self- determination and strength

  • Unite – to join together to incite positive action."
(Excerpt from the Hoka Hey HH Mission Page: HHMC Mission)

Why be a Hoka Hey Challenger?

Matt chose to participate as a Hoka Hey challenger to raise money for charity, while also challenging himself. Hoka Hey challengers ride 10,000+ miles to raise money for their chosen charity, and they do-so within 14 days. This endurance ride takes riders through all weather conditions, twisting and turning through some of the most beautiful least traveled roads in North America. The riders are not permitted to use electronic mapping or navigation and must stay on a very strict designated route. Many riders sleep every night outside by their bike, regardless of where they are or what the weather is like. Last years, these riders raised  $1,050,000 for charities across the United States! This year, the donations we collect at Classic American Thunder Cycle, will benefit a local charity "Hogs Helping Heros" - who work to help veterans in the surrounding communities. Donations collected directly by Hoka Hey, will benefit the Prairie Band Potawatmi Nation's Boys & Girls Club.

Our history with the Hoka Hey

Matt participated in the Hoka Hey motorcycle challenge in 2022 which took him from Rapid City, SD - around the country, ending in Hot Springs, SD. He raised $10,000 for his chosen charity "Hogs Helping Heros" and finished the event on day 13 after many break-downs and struggles on the road. The 2026 event will begin on August 2nd, and will start and end in Woodstock, IL. This year, Matt is riding again to raise donations for Hogs Helping Heros.  See Matt's Hoka Hey Journey 2022 >
